  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold and cut into cubes)
  • 45 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 cup strawberry preserves (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • Rainbow sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling by mixing sliced strawberries, lemon juice, zest, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  2. For the pastry dough, combine flour, salt, and sugar; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add cold water gradually until dough forms.
  3. Roll out half of the dough into rectangles; fill each with strawberry filling and seal.
  4. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drizzle with icing made from powdered sugar and cream once cooled.
