  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar (divided)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine cranberries, 1 cup sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in the beaten egg until just combined.
  3. Press over half of the crust mixture into a greased 9×13 inch pan. Spread cooled cranberry filling evenly over the crust, then sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
  4. Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before slicing into squares.
